News from WSSD on EarthWire/WSSD

EarthWire/WSSD gives you a free daily overview of news related to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 26 August to 4 September 2002.

EarthWire/WSSD is a joint initiative by GRID-Arendal and the South African Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism. The service is partly financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Environment.

Prior to the conference, our team of journalists will be compiling WSSD-related stories from about 40 newspapers around the globe. Relevant stories are included in EarthWire/WSSD by 10:00 GMT. In addition to our daily updated main page, you can also view the articles by country, topic, or time period. A search engine allows users to search for issues and keywords in the archive. Press releases and news from research organisations, the public sector, and environmental organisations are available as well.

During the conference, our team of journalists will be reviewing more than 100 newspapers from around the globe for WSSD-related news stories.

EarthWire is used by government officials as a briefing on the day's environmental news, journalists following hot issues, students and researchers looking for current information on the state of the environment, and by anyone interested in current events and the environment.

EarthWire/WSSD covers newspapers from every region of the globe. Other regionally focused editions of EarthWire include EarthWire/Norway and EarthWire/Africa.
