Reacting to the publication of UK carbon emission figures for 2010, Dr. Doug Parr, the chief scientist for Greenpeace, said: Climate-changing pollution should be falling, not going up – so what these figures show is that the UK is moving in the wrong direction. Politicians cant blame it on the beginnings of the economic recovery because whilst the economy has grown slowly, carbon emissions have grown faster.

Nuclear Installations Inspectorate statement - Greenpeace response

Commenting on a statement released today by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate detailing the timeline for its review into nuclear safety, Greenpeace executive director John Sauven said: It is welcome news that this review will be longer and wider in scope than was originally reported. The approval process for new nuclear power station should be suspended while we await the its findings.

Greenpeace Takes Government to High Court to Halt Deep Water Oil Drilling

Greenpeace today dragged the Government into the High Court in London in a bid to stop offshore drilling in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Lawyers acting for the environmental group filed a claim at the Royal Courts of Justice this morning seeking a halt to the issuing of new licences for deep sea drilling until the causes of the Deepwater Horizon explosion have been properly established. A hearing is expected in the coming weeks.
