The Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security were negotiated over the course of three years, and will be adapted and implemented by individual governments. The new guidelines aim to promote food security and sustainable development by improving access to resources and protecting stakeholders' rights.

The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) has released its publication, "Living Planet: Connected Planet," in French and Spanish. It highlights the importance of ecological networks for migratory animals and seeks to demonstrate that collaboration between different countries is critical to ensuring that migratory wild animals can continue to use their routes.

A four-year project aimed at addressing the lack of knowledge about the impacts of climate change on food security, livelihoods and economic prosperity in mountain ecosystems has been launched in East Africa. The project, Climate Change Impacts on Ecosystem Services and Food Security in Eastern Africa (CHIESA) will be coordinated by the Nairobi-based International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) with funding from Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
